Job Seeking Georgia Man Wins $200,000 Dream Home in Taylor Morrison's Dream Home Giveaway

Job Seeking Georgia Man Wins $200,000 Dream Home in Taylor Morrison's Dream Home Giveaway Single Entry Nets Mark Roberson His Dream House fromthe Nation's Largest Private Homebuilder Scottsdale, Ariz. – The promise of a new home and a new life is coming true for Georgia resident Mark Roberson, who was announced today as the winner of the Taylor Morrison 2012 Dream Home Giveaway.
Roberson, an unemployed truck driver from Clarkston, Georgia, saw the fortunes of him and his wife, Gloria, change with a single phone call last week when he was notified by Taylor Morrison representatives that he had won a $200,000 dream home. As the grand prize winner, he was told he could select a home wherever Taylor Morrison currently builds. Roberson and his wife chose Houston, Texas, where they plan to begin a new chapter in their lives together.
“It’s still hard to comprehend,” Roberson said. “It’s something that we’ve wanted for a long time – a home of our own.”
Roberson said he couldn’t believe his good fortune when the call arrived at his suburban Atlanta home.
“The phone rang and my wife handed it to me, saying ‘There’s someone on the phone for you,’” Roberson said. “I wasn’t quite awake yet so when they told me that I’d won, I didn’t really believe it. I said, “Ma’am, it’s not good to play with people’s emotions.’”
Originally from Sumter, South Carolina, Roberson said times had been hard on him and his wife. After getting laid off as a truck driver for DeKalb County, Roberson said he had submitted more than 100 job applications to no avail.
“We were living off a $100 a week,” he said. “And that was getting ready to run out in two weeks.”
It was during his online job search that Roberson came across an ad for Taylor Morrison’s Dream Home Giveaway. He entered the contest and almost as fast as he had found the giveaway, it slipped from his memory.
“I just forgot about it,” he said. “The phone call brought it all back to me. And now, we’re as giddy as little kids.”
And ready to begin his new life with his wife in Houston, where a promising economy offers the hope of a new job, Roberson said. “It’s wonderful to hear these stories every year,” said Taylor Morrison CEO and President Sheryl Palmer. “We’ve been very fortunate that all of our winners have been such deserving people. It makes the whole contest that much more special to all of us at Taylor Morrison.” The Robersons expect to move into their new home this fall. Their dream home will come equipped with Taylor Morrison’s new Interactive Home™ system, which allows homebuyers to create a connected living experience with features like a front door video monitoring system, LCD command center, whole house audio system (with more than 70,000 internet stations and iTunes integration), Selective Call Intercom, and camera monitors. Since it first started in 2008, the Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway has been a runaway success, with $1 million worth of homes given away in the process. Past winners have included a Sacramento single mother, an unemployed father, a first-time mother and a Chicago grandmother. The Dream Home Giveaway is inspired by the Innoventions Dream Home exhibit located in Disneyland® Park in Anaheim, California, which was developed by the Disneyland® Resort in collaboration with Taylor Morrison, Microsoft and HP. The 2012 Dream Home winner also receives a vacation to the Disneyland® Resort.

Taylor Morrison Builds on Recent Success, Positioning for Future With Strategic Land Investments

Taylor Morrison Builds on Recent Success, Positioning for Future With Strategic Land Investments National Homebuilder Adds Communities in Florida, Arizona, Texas, California and Colorado Scottsdale, Ariz. - Four months after completing a $955 million sale to private equity partners, national homebuilder Taylor Morrison is working hard to position itself for the future, acquiring land that fits the needs of its homebuyers and the approval of its investment committee. Erik Heuser, vice president of land investments for the company, said Taylor Morrison is methodically looking to bolster the land positions in each market it builds in, but doing so prudently, only pulling the trigger when the deal makes sense for the company. “We have the ability to work differently in each market, to adapt to the market conditions,” Heuser said. “We’re pursuing deals that make financial and strategic sense within the context of our business model.” Heuser points to a sizeable purchase that allowed Taylor Morrison to secure lands accommodating 450 lots in the 8,500-acre master planned community of Lakewood Ranch, near Sarasota, Fla. The purchase is advantageous in that the section, to be named Esplanade, will enable Taylor Morrison to develop a bit of a niche and build the community on its own. “We have control over our own destiny, in many respects, as we create and grow in the gated and amenity-rich community,” Heuser said. Taylor Morrison has also made select purchases in the Bay Area of Northern California, Orange County , California, and Orlando, adding land to a portfolio that already boasts such opportunistic buys as Crystal Falls in Austin and Adora Trials in Phoenix, acquired before the company’s sale. Taylor Morrison also counts new developments in Houston – Avalon at Riverstone, and Ladera in Austin. As recent as September, Taylor Morrison also took advantage of opportunities in Denver and again in Houston – where the local division has performed exceptionally well despite the national real estate slump of recent years. “These developments are typical of what we look for – strategic purchases that leverage local expertise in developing attractive communities and offering well-suited homes in good neighborhoods with well-ranked schools,” Heuser said. “We’ve invested in each of our markets in 2011 and we will continue to – as long as the opportunity is the right fit,” Heuser said. “The downturn presented challenges in forcing us to rebalance the land bank; but we’re a leaner, stronger company than we were just a few years ago and we intend to stay that way.” For more information on Taylor Morrison homes and communities, please visit www.taylormorrison.com. Taylor Morrison Helps Bring Water Resources to Kenyan Village National Homebuilder’s Denver Division Winner Chooses to Help the Less Fortunate
Scottsdale, Ariz. – One Kenyan village now has access to a natural resource that many take for granted, thanks in large part to a local Denver real estate agent and Taylor Morrison.
Taylor Morrison recently held a REALTOR® promotion called Reach for the Stars, which promised a brand new Mercedes Benz to one lucky REALTOR® for selling a Taylor Morrison home.
Denver agent Judy Pitt won the promotion but when it came time to collect her prize, she had a surprise for Taylor Morrison.
“Instead of receiving the Mercedes, Judy asked that we make a donation to help complete a well in Othoo, Kenya,” said Kip Gilleland, division president for Taylor Morrison’s Denver division. “We were more than happy to oblige.”
It turns out that real estate agent is only one hat that Pitt wears. She also serves as executive director of the Kazi Yake Foundation, which provides much needed help to rural villages in Kenya.
“To me, the gift was very generous but I knew the money could be put to a better use,” Pitt said.
According to Gilleland, the Taylor Morrison donation helped Pitt’s group finish a well under construction in the tiny village of Othoo. With the well now complete, the villagers are enjoying clean water for the first time ever.
“Judy’s generosity made it all possible,” Gilleland said.

Chicago-Area Woman Wins $200,000 Dream Home from Taylor Morrison Lauren McCaleb’s 43 entries land her a dream home in Arizona Scottsdale, Ariz. – Lauren McCaleb of Chicago has been chosen as the 2011 Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway winner, beating out more than 1.1 million entries to claim her $200,000 grand prize. McCaleb, a mother of two and grandmother of four said she and her husband, Richard, initially couldn’t believe her good fortune, which was delivered via voice mail on her home phone. Two weeks later, the shock of winning is still settling in. “I’ve listened to the message at least 10 times,” McCaleb said. “It’s hard to believe that I’ve actually won. I had to make my husband read it for himself on the computer the other day. He wasn’t buying the whole thing.” After an exhaustive search, the couple has chosen the Phoenix metropolitan area to have their home built, weighing communities in Austin, Texas and Sarasota, Florida before making their decision. “Taylor Morrison has so many great places to choose from that it was actually hard to pick,” McCaleb said. “We narrowed it down to Phoenix and Austin and spoke with salespeople from both areas before finally deciding. But it was a hard choice.” Since it first started in 2008, the Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway contest has been a runaway success, with almost $1 million worth of homes given away in the process. Sacramento single mother Jennifer Draa won in 2008. Draa was followed by Arizona wife and mother Kristin Pierce in 2009 and an Arizona father, Michael Bernardo, in 2010. All of those winners chose to have homes built in their hometowns, while McCaleb is thinking ahead to retirement for her and her husband. “Right now the plan is to build the house and then retire in the winter,” she said. “Since most of my family has never been to Arizona, we’re expecting a lot of visitors.” As with previous years, the winner will have the opportunity to design their dream home, selecting the floor plan and options that best suit their lifestyle and making their new home one they can truly call their own. “For our team at Taylor Morrison, the fun really begins when our winner is selected,” said Sheryl Palmer, CEO and President of Taylor Morrison. “Sometimes it’s hard to figure out who’s more excited; we love delivering one of our homes to such deserving winners.” This is the fourth year for the Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway, inspired by the Innoventions Dream Home located at the Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, Calif., which Taylor Morrison built in a partnership with Disneyland, Microsoft and HP. Arizona Father of Four Receives Keys to Taylor Morrison Dream Home $200,000 Dream Home Has Room for Three Generations
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The wait came to an end on Nov. 18 for Michael Bernardo, the Arizona father of four who this summer was declared the winner of the 2010 Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway. With his family watching, Bernardo cut the large red ribbon placed across his new home’s entryway and entered the $200,000 grand prize/dream home he first learned he’d won back in July.
Bernardo won the home while he was unemployed, entering the popular Taylor Morrison contest every day during the promotional period. His 119 entries resulted in him randomly winning the $200,000 grand prize, perfect for his family, which includes two sons, two daughters, his wife and his 92-year-old mother.
One of Bernardo’s children, 15-year-old daughter Brittany, was actually the first to hear the good news. She then texted her father, who had a hard time believing what he was hearing. "You just don't get a call everyday from someone saying that you've won a home,” he said. Lisa Bernardo helped her husband design their dream home, spending hours at Taylor Morrison’s design center in Scottsdale to choose just the right floor coverings, fixtures and cabinetry for the 3,433-square-foot home. "We can’t wait to move in,” she said.
Because of his large family, Bernardo and his wife tried to find the most spacious house they could afford without sacrificing his other hobbies, which include his love of cooking and restoring old cars. Their wish list for the ideal home ended up becoming the two-story, three-car garage Legend floor plan built for them at Del Rio Ranch.
Construction of the home took approximately four months, said Charlie Enochs, division president of Taylor Morrison Arizona. While the Bernardos waited for their home to be completed, they visited Disneyland in September to receive the ceremonial key to their new home and visit the Innoventions Dream Home, which was built by Taylor Morrison in partnership with Disney, Microsoft and HP and was the original inspiration for the contest.
"From the time Michael was announced as our winner, we worked closely with him to build the home of his family’s dreams," said Enochs, who also oversaw the construction of the home for the 2009 Dream Home Giveaway winner, Kristin Pierce, at Stratland Estates in Gilbert Arizona. “Today, we believe we’ve delivered on that promise.”

Arizona Father of Four Wins Taylor Morrison’s 2010 Dream Home Giveaway Michael Bernardo Wins $200,000 Home From the Nation’s No. 1 Private Homebuilder
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Michael Bernardo, a father of four from Phoenix, is the winner of the 2010 Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway.
Bernardo, who lives in El Mirage, entered the popular contest every day during the promotion period. His 119 entries resulted in his winning the $200,000 grand prize, perfect for his family, which includes two sons, two daughters, his wife and his mother.
The recently-unemployed father said the announcement couldn't have come at a better time, although he was skeptical when he first found out that he had won.
"It was a little unbelievable," Bernardo said. "You just don't get a call everyday from someone saying that you've won a home."
Actually, the first person to hear about Michael's success was his 15-year-old daughter, Brittany, who heard the voicemail and called her mother at work to say, "I think Dad just won a house."
"It's definitely not the type of call you expect to get at work," said Bernardo’s wife, Lisa, who works as a retail buyer for Dilliard's department stores.
Because of his large family, Bernardo said he and his wife tried to find the most spacious house they could afford without sacrificing his other hobbies, which include his love of cooking and restoring old cars. They chose the two-story, three-car garage Legend floor plan at Del Rio Ranch as their new home.
Construction of the home is underway and Charlie Enochs, division president of Taylor Morrison Arizona, said the home should be finished by the holidays.
"It's just such a wonderful thing to have the winner come from Arizona again," said Enochs, who oversaw the construction of the home for the 2009 Dream Home Giveaway winner, Kristin Pierce, at Stratland Estates in Gilbert Arizona.
To celebrate their win, the Bernardo family is visiting Disneyland later this year when they will receive the ceremonial key to their new home and visit the Innoventions Dream Home, which was built by Taylor Morrison in partnership with Disney, Microsoft and HP and was the original inspiration for the contest.
"The kids have never been to Disneyland, so they're probably more excited about the trip than the house," Bernardo said. "But for Lisa and me, it'll be a long time before the excitement of a new home goes away. We can't wait to move in."

This week, she walked through the front door of her completed $200,000 home for the first time while the construction crew who built her dream home watched. “The shock has finally worn off,” said the Arizona wife and mother who beat out 147,000 other entries to claim her prize. “I can’t begin to describe how happy this makes our family.” Pierce and her husband were in the middle of signing a contract on a foreclosed home this summer when she learned that she had won. Pierce had searched for almost a year to find the foreclosure property, worth about half the price of their new Taylor Morrison home. With their new home, Pierce and her husband are getting exactly what they wanted. The couple chose their floor plan, opted for an additional media room to serve as a playroom for their young son and picked every appliance, paint color and floor covering in the 2,240-square-foot home. “We took great joy in building this home for Kristin and her family,” said Taylor Morrison President and CEO Sheryl Palmer. “We’re sure they will take as much pride in owning this home as we did in building it for them.” This is the second year that Taylor Morrison has given away a home in its Dream Home Giveaway. Last year’s winner, Jennifer Draa, picked a home in a Sacramento Taylor Morrison community. Taylor Morrison will kick off the 2010 Dream Home Giveaway in January, awarding another $200,000 home to a lucky winner. Taylor Morrison offers Total Assurance Taylor Morrison Offers Total Assurance to Its Homebuyers Program Allows Buyers to Recoup Up to 10 Percent of Original Purchase Price
Scottsdale, Ariz. – Taylor Morrison wants homebuyers to feel confident when making the largest purchase of their lives – a new home.
To instill that confidence, the Top 10 homebuilder unveiled today the first homebuyer’s assurance program of its kind, offering a refund of a homebuyer’s down payment, up to 10 percent of the original purchase price, should their home decrease in value in five years.
The program, called Taylor Morrison Total Assurance allows homebuyers to take advantage of today’s competitive pricing, low interest rates and the homebuilder’s award-winning communities across the country. The program will only be offered for a limited time and to qualify the home must be purchased in select communities in Arizona, Florida and Texas on or after August 8, 2009.
“We recognize that deciding to buy a home in our current economy can be a daunting experience,” said Taylor Morrison president and CEO Sheryl Palmer. “But we believe in our product and our industry and want to demonstrate that to our customers.”
Under the terms of the Taylor Morrison Total Assurance Program, homebuyers who purchase a Taylor Morrison home through Taylor Morrison Home Funding and live in it for five consecutive years are eligible to receive a down payment refund of up to 10 percent of the original purchase price should their home be valued at less than they paid for it when they decide to sell.
In addition to the five-year occupancy requirement, buyers are required to maintain their home in accordance with home warranty and HOA guidelines and not use it as an investment property, adding a further stability to Taylor Morrison neighborhoods.
Taylor Morrison Total Assurance costs home buyers nothing, with Taylor Morrison picking up the cost of the program.
“We believe in the quality and long-term value of our homes and our economy,” Palmer said. “Our hope is this program will help others believe as well.”

Arizona Couple Wins the 2009 Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway Arizona Couple Wins the 2009 Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway Scottsdale, Ariz. - Kristin and Geoffrey Pierce can’t remember ever winning a contest they’ve entered. Their luck changed on June 23 when the couple was announced as the winners of the 2009 Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway. The Queen Creek couple was chosen out of more than 147,000 entries received during the two-month nationwide contest sponsored by the Scottsdale-based homebuilder. The Pierces have chosen the Taylor Morrison community of Stratland Estates in Gilbert to build their dream home. The Pierces were shopping for a foreclosed home when they learned they had won the contest. Kristin, who had entered the giveaway after reading about it online, later visited a Taylor Morrison community where she received a special code for 50 additional entries. But even then she tempered her enthusiasm. "I’ve never won anything in my life," said Pierce, a stay-at-home mom. "That just doesn’t happen to me. You hear about someone winning the lottery and you wish it was you but you never think that it really could be you." Now the Pierces are busy picking out kitchen cabinets, flooring and interior paint colors for their new home. They visited the Taylor Morrison Design Center in Scottsdale last week to begin selecting the interior design elements and start the exciting process of building their new home. "This is the second year that we’ve held the Dream Home Giveaway and I can’t tell you how happy it makes us as a company to have been able in each case to award the home to such a worthy winner," said Sheryl Palmer, CEO of Taylor Morrison. Last October, Sacramento, Calif., resident and single mother Jennifer Draa was selected as the company’s first ever Dream Home winner, receiving a home inspired by the Innoventions Dream Home at the Disneyland Resort, which Taylor Morrison built in a partnership with Disneyland, Microsoft, HP and Lifeware. This year’s winners are looking forward to watching their new home being built. They hope to be able to move in by the holiday season. "I told my mom that this year I want to have Thanksgiving at my house," Kristin said. "I’ve never been able to do that before." Single Mother from California Wins Disneyland®-Inspired Home as Home Builder Announces Second Sweepstakes
Folsom, CA –Jennifer Draa, a single mother from Citrus Heights, Calif., now has her own piece of the American Dream, thanks to homebuilder Taylor Morrison.
Draa and her son were selected as the homebuilder’s 2008 Dream Home winner and moved into their new suburban Sacramento home on April 10, just days after Taylor Morrison launched its 2009 Dream Home Giveaway.
Inspired by the Innoventions Dream Home located at the Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, Calif., the first sweepstakes generated more than 635,000 entries during the two-month promotion. The second sweepstakes, which started April 2 and runs until June 1 at www.bringthedreamhome.com, is expected to generate the same buzz.
“Owning a home is still the American dream,” said Sheryl Palmer, president and CEO of Taylor Morrison. “There’s nothing more gratifying than being able to provide that dream to our sweepstakes winners.”
Draa, 46, selected her home in Taylor Morrison’s Lincoln Crossing: The Courtyards community in Lincoln, CA. She worked with Taylor Morrison associates for weeks choosing her home’s details. The building of her home was documented at www.taylormorrison.com/DreamHomeBlog/.
As part of the giveaway, Draa’s home was outfitted with a state-of-the-art package incorporating the Innoventions Dream Home technology created by Microsoft, HP and Life|ware and tailored to the family’s lifestyle. She also received new home furnishings and a private design consultation courtesy of World of Decor, a national upscale home furnishings and decor destination.
"Winning was the last thing I thought would ever happen to us", she said. "This is a dream come true!"
Draa was notified of her selection last fall and received a dream vacation to the Disneyland® Resort where she and her son celebrated with representatives from Taylor Morrison and Disneyland® Resort. She was also given a private tour of the Innoventions Dream Home where she received a sneak peek at the many technology components she would be able to select for her new home.
The Innoventions Dream Home features a “high-tech, high-touch” experience within a 5,000-square-feet home and showcases the latest in mobile devices, PCs, digital music, entertainment and gaming technology in a connected environment that adjusts to the preferences of its occupants. Since opening, thousands of visitors have toured the Innoventions Dream Home to marvel at the design and technology.
For Taylor Morrison, the Innoventions Dream Home is an opportunity to create a competitive edge in the marketplace. Throughout the Innoventions Dream Home experience, visitors can provide feedback that the company anticipates will lead to invaluable consumer trend and lifestyle data.
“We’re excited that the winning entry came from the Sacramento area, and that our team was able to build Jennifer and her family a home that we hope they will enjoy for years to come,” said Dar Ahrens, president of Taylor Morrison’s Northern California division, headquartered in Folsom, CA. “Building the Taylor Morrison Dream Home gives our team an opportunity to showcase the quality work and commitment to customer satisfaction that goes into every home we build.”
Taylor Morrison has new home communities throughout the Sacramento area, starting from the $160,000s. These include Avenida, Mirabela and Teresina at Madeira, all in Elk Grove; Bella Rio and Westshore in Sacramento; Edgewater and Reflections, both in Marysville; Lariat Ranch in Auburn and The Orchards at Fiddyment Farm in Roseville.
Throughout the Central Valley, Taylor Morrison offers new home communities starting from the $180,000s. These include Carriage Lane at Bridle Ridge in Oakdale; Heartland at Crossroads in Riverbank; Meridian Pointe in Manteca; Palermo in Turlock; and Silverwood in Escalon.
In the Bay Area, Taylor Morrison offers new home communities starting from the $290,000s. These include Hampton Park and Modern Ice in San Jose; Laurel Place in Santa Clara (coming soon); Morgan Lane in Menlo Park; Sendera in Concord; and Verona Ridge in San Mateo.
Taylor Morrison also offers new homes at Estrella in Reno, Nevada, starting from the $260,000s.
Palmer said the 2008 giveaway was an overwhelming success, with more than 635,000 entries and 22 verifiable new home sales. Nearly 700 entries a day were received during the 61-day sweepstakes. She expects the 2009 contest to be just as popular.
“Who wouldn’t want to win their very own dream home?” Palmer said.
