Job Seeking Georgia Man Wins $200,000 Dream Home in Taylor Morrison's Dream Home Giveaway

Single Entry Nets Mark Roberson His Dream House from the Nation's Largest Private Homebuilder

Scottsdale, Ariz. - The promise of a new home and a new life is coming true for Georgia resident Mark Roberson, who was announced today as the winner of the Taylor Morrison 2012 Dream Home Giveaway.

Roberson, an unemployed truck driver from Clarkston, Georgia, saw the fortunes of him and his wife, Gloria, change with a single phone call last week when he was notified by Taylor Morrison representatives that he had won a $200,000 dream home. As the grand prize winner, he was told he could select a home wherever Taylor Morrison currently builds. Roberson and his wife chose Houston, Texas, where they plan to begin a new chapter in their lives together.

"It's still hard to comprehend," Roberson said. "It's something that we've wanted for a long time - a home of our own."

Roberson said he couldn't believe his good fortune when the call arrived at his suburban Atlanta home.

"The phone rang and my wife handed it to me, saying 'There's someone on the phone for you,'" Roberson said. "I wasn't quite awake yet so when they told me that I'd won, I didn't really believe it. I said, "Ma'am, it's not good to play with people's emotions.'"

Originally from Sumter, South Carolina, Roberson said times had been hard on him and his wife. After getting laid off as a truck driver for DeKalb County, Roberson said he had submitted more than 100 job applications to no avail.

"We were living off a $100 a week," he said. "And that was getting ready to run out in two weeks."

It was during his online job search that Roberson came across an ad for Taylor Morrison's Dream Home Giveaway. He entered the contest and almost as fast as he had found the giveaway, it slipped from his memory.

"I just forgot about it," he said. "The phone call brought it all back to me. And now, we're as giddy as little kids."

And ready to begin his new life with his wife in Houston, where a promising economy offers the hope of a new job, Roberson said.

"It's wonderful to hear these stories every year," said Taylor Morrison CEO and President Sheryl Palmer. "We've been very fortunate that all of our winners have been such deserving people. It makes the whole contest that much more special to all of us at Taylor Morrison."

The Robersons expect to move into their new home this fall. Their dream home will come equipped with Taylor Morrison's new Interactive Home™ system, which allows homebuyers to create a connected living experience with features like a front door video monitoring system, LCD command center, whole house audio system (with more than 70,000 internet stations and iTunes integration), Selective Call Intercom, and camera monitors.

Since it first started in 2008, the Taylor Morrison Dream Home Giveaway has been a runaway success, with $1 million worth of homes given away in the process. Past winners have included a Sacramento single mother, an unemployed father, a first-time mother and a Chicago grandmother.

The Dream Home Giveaway is inspired by the Innoventions Dream Home exhibit located in Disneyland® Park in Anaheim, California, which was developed by the Disneyland® Resort in collaboration with Taylor Morrison, Microsoft and HP. The 2012 Dream Home winner also receives a vacation to the Disneyland® Resort.

As Earth Day Approaches, Taylor Morrison Rolls Out Energy-Saving "Elem3nts" Program

Country's largest private homebuilder adding HERS®Index energy rating system to its homes

Scottsdale, Ariz. - In order to help homebuyers better understand the energy efficiency of their next home, the nation's largest private homebuilder, Taylor Morrison, has announced that its communities will now carry energy ratings based on the HERS®Index.

The index will be part of the homebuilder's new Elem3nts program, which stresses environment, energy and efficiency. Starting on Earth Day, Taylor Morrison communities across the country will display the HERS®Index ratings of the homes built in the community.

The independent HERS®Index system provides a home energy rating that homebuyers can use to quickly compare similar products, making it easier for them to select a home that not only fits their lifestyle, but also offers the lower-energy costs of a more energy-efficient home.

"We always strive to build the best homes we can", said Sheryl Palmer, Taylor Morrison president and CEO. "Part of that means creating communities that offer the best possible environments in which to live. But we must also concern ourselves with the larger environment - our eco-environment - and the HERS®Index helps us measure our progress."

The HERS®Index is based on four main components - assessment of building components, diagnostic and performance testing, energy modeling and a final report which delivers the energy rating for the home. The rating system is based on a scale of zero to 150, with a lower number indicating better energy efficiency. A typical new home built in the U.S. averages a score of 100, with older homes scoring closer to 130.

Palmer said the Elem3nts program offers homebuyers peace of mind in the construction of their home and the opportunity to save money on their utility bills.

"We believe your home should operate as efficiently as possible so you can enjoy cooler summers, warmer winters and lower energy bills," Palmer said. "Our homes are built to maximize that energy efficiency and the HERS®Index helps us communicate that to buyers."

November 1, 2011 - Taylor Morrison Builds on Recent Success, Positioning for Future With Strategic Land Investments

National Homebuilder Adds Communities in Florida, Arizona, Texas, California and Colorado

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Four months after completing a $955 million sale to private equity partners, national homebuilder Taylor Morrison is working hard to position itself for the future, acquiring land that fits the needs of its homebuyers and the approval of its investment committee.

Erik Heuser, vice president of land investments for the company, said Taylor Morrison is methodically looking to bolster the land positions in each market it builds in, but doing so prudently, only pulling the trigger when the deal makes sense for the company.

"We have the ability to work differently in each market, to adapt to the market conditions," Heuser said. "We're pursuing deals that make financial and strategic sense within the context of our business model."

Heuser points to a sizeable purchase that allowed Taylor Morrison to secure lands accommodating 450 lots in the 8,500-acre master planned community of Lakewood Ranch, near Sarasota, Fla. The purchase is advantageous in that the section, to be named Esplanade, will enable Taylor Morrison to develop a bit of a niche and build the community on its own.

"We have control over our own destiny, in many respects, as we create and grow in the gated and amenity-rich community," Heuser said.

Taylor Morrison has also made select purchases in the Bay Area of Northern California, Orange County , California, and Orlando, adding land to a portfolio that already boasts such opportunistic buys as Crystal Falls in Austin and Adora Trials in Phoenix, acquired before the company's sale.

Taylor Morrison also counts new developments in Houston - Avalon at Riverstone, and Ladera in Austin. As recent as September, Taylor Morrison also took advantage of opportunities in Denver and again in Houston - where the local division has performed exceptionally well despite the national real estate slump of recent years.

"These developments are typical of what we look for - strategic purchases that leverage local expertise in developing attractive communities and offering well-suited homes in good neighborhoods with well-ranked schools," Heuser said.

"We've invested in each of our markets in 2011 and we will continue to - as long as the opportunity is the right fit," Heuser said. "The downturn presented challenges in forcing us to rebalance the land bank; but we're a leaner, stronger company than we were just a few years ago and we intend to stay that way."

National Homebuilder's Denver Division Winner Chooses to Help the Less Fortunate

Scottsdale, Ariz. - One Kenyan village now has access to a natural resource that many take for granted, thanks in large part to a local Denver real estate agent and Taylor Morrison.

Taylor Morrison recently held a REALTOR® promotion called Reach for the Stars, which promised a brand new Mercedes Benz to one lucky REALTOR® for selling a Taylor Morrison home.

Denver agent Judy Pitt won the promotion but when it came time to collect her prize, she had a surprise for Taylor Morrison.

"Instead of receiving the Mercedes, Judy asked that we make a donation to help complete a well in Othoo, Kenya," said Kip Gilleland, division president for Taylor Morrison's Denver division. "We were more than happy to oblige."

It turns out that real estate agent is only one hat that Pitt wears. She also serves as executive director of the Kazi Yake Foundation, which provides much needed help to rural villages in Kenya.

"To me, the gift was very generous but I knew the money could be put to a better use," Pitt said.

According to Gilleland, the Taylor Morrison donation helped Pitt's group finish a well under construction in the tiny village of Othoo. With the well now complete, the villagers are enjoying clean water for the first time ever.

"Judy's generosity made it all possible," Gilleland said.
